For the full list of ingredients and measurements, scroll to the recipe card below.
- Oats – use regular rolled oats and avoid quick cook oats.

- Oil - fat is needed to make the oats crunchy. Use avocado oil for a healthier option or vegetable oil for a cheaper option.
- Honey – use clear honey to sweeten the granola.

How to Make Simple Honey Toasted Oats
Preheat the oven
Start by preheating your oven to 150°C and line a large baking tray with baking paper.
Combine the oats and salt
In a large mixing bowl, add the rolled oats and salt and give them a quick stir to combine.
Mix the oats with the oil and honey
In a separate small bowl, mix together the oil and honey then pour this mixture over the oats. Mix well until all the oats are evenly coated. This step is important as it helps the oats toast evenly.

Add the mixture to the baking tray
Tip the mixture onto the lined baking tray and spread it out into a flat even layer.
Bake the oats
Bake in the oven for 45 minutes, stirring half way through. The oats should be golden brown. Once golden, remove the tray from the oven and leave the granola to cool completely on the tray. It will continue to crisp up as it cools.
Recipe Tips
- To use these toasted oats to make a simple muesli or granola, add seeds, nuts and dried fruit after baking.
Storage
Store in an airtight container or jar for up to two weeks.
