The 'mess' in the name refers to the look of the dessert as all the ingredients are mixed together to create a messy looking dessert. Typically, strawberries alone were used but nowadays other berries such raspberries and blueberries are also used in different recipes.

Traditional Eton mess is made with whipped cream which means it is very high in calories and fat. This recipe uses strained 0% fat Greek yoghurt instead of cream which makes this delicious dessert a healthier alternative.
