    tuna lettuce wraps

These tuna lettuce wraps have become one of my go-to lunches as they’re delicious, quick and easy to prepare. I no longer follow a low carb diet but I love making them when I want a quick, light lunch. Not only are they low in carbs but they are also high in protein so perfect for those trying to increase their protein intake.

They are made by combining tuna, mayonnaise, Greek yoghurt, chopped red onions and chopped cucumbers which is then added to some lettuce leaves and topped with grated carrots and avocados. If you prefer, you can also use all the ingredients to make a delicious nutritious tuna sandwich which is what I sometimes do if I’m in the mood for bread instead.

There is no cooking involved and you can have these healthy tuna wraps ready in less than 10 minutes so if you need a quick healthy lunch that also taste good then you will love these tuna salad lettuce wraps.

    Ingredients for Tuna Lettuce Wraps

For the full list of ingredients and measurements, scroll to the recipe card below.

    • Lettuce leaves – I use romaine lettuce leaves.
    • Tuna – I use canned tuna in brine which is why i don't use salt in the recipe.
    • Onion – use a red onion.
    • Cucumber – I use an English cucumber.
    • Mayonnaise – I use light or reduced fat mayonnaise.
    • Greek yoghurt - I use 0% fat Greek yoghurt.
    • Black pepper – use good quality black pepper.
    • Carrot – use a fresh carrot.
    • Avocado – I use hass avocados.

How to Make Tuna Lettuce Wraps

Prepare the leaves and make the tuna mix: Wash and dry the lettuce leaves then combine the tuna, red onions, cucumbers, mayonnaise and black pepper in a small bowl.

Assemble the lettuce wraps: Arrange the lettuce leaves on a plate then add the tuna mixture evenly between the lettuce leaves. Sprinkle on the grated carrots and add the chopped avocados. Optionally, sprinkle on some parsley then serve immediately.

    Storage

You can make these tuna lettuce wraps ahead of time and store in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

If making ahead of time then prepare the tuna but don’t add it to the lettuce leaves until you’re ready to eat them.
