For the full list of ingredients and measurements, scroll to the recipe card below.

    • Broccoli – I use tenderstem broccoli for this recipe.
    • Egg noodles – you can buy the noodle ready cooked or dried which you will have to boil.

    • Sesame oil – you can also use toasted sesame oil.
    • Beef – I use sirloin but you can also use rump.

    • Oil – use any oil you prefer for cooking.
    • Bell pepper – use a red bell pepper.
    • Onion – use a brown onion.
    • Ginger – use freshroot ginger for this recipe.
    • Garlic – use fresh garlic cloves.

How to Make Beef Broccoli Noodle Stir Fry

    Blanch the tenderstem broccoli

Bring a pot of water to a boil then add in the broccoli for 2 minutes, strain and set aside.

    Cook the noodles

Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook or soak noodles according to the package instructions. Strain then rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process and also set aside.

    Make the sauce

In a small bowl, combine the orange juice, soy sauce and sesame oil then set aside.

    Season the beef

Add the steak to a bowl and season with salt, black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder.

    Cook the steak

Add the oil to a frying pan and place on a medium to high heat. Once the oil is sizzling, add the beef and stir fry for 3 - 4 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the beef and set it aside on a plate.

    Cook the vegetables

To the same pan, add in the red bell peppers and onions, stir fry for 2 minutes then add in the ginger and garlic and continue to stir fry for 1 minute.

    Bring the dish together

Add in the tenderstem and stir fry until heated through. Add in the beef and noodles then continue to stir fry for 30 seconds. Pour in the sauce and combine well. Remove from the heat and serve immediately.

    Recipe Tips

    • This recipe makes 2 servings but you can easily double to serve 4.

    Storage

Make this meal to eat immediately. If you store it in the fridge and reheat then the meat may become chewy.

    • ¼ teaspoon salt optional
    • ¼ teaspoon black pepper.
    • ½ teaspoon onion powder
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
    • ½ medium red bell pepper sliced
    • 1 small brown onion sliced
    • 25g root ginger peeled and finely chopped

    Instructions

    • Place a pot of water on a high heat and bring to a boil. Once the water is boiling, add in the broccoli and allow to boil for 2 minutes. Strain the tenderstem and set aside.
    • If using dried noodles, place a pot of boiling water on a high heat and bring to a boil. Cook or soak for the time on the packaging, usually around 4 minutes. Strain, rinse with cold water and set aside. This is so they don't continue to cook and become mushy. Skip step 2 if using fresh noodle.

    • Season the sliced beef with salt, black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder then place a frying pan on a medium to high heat. Add the oil to the pan and allow to heat. Once the oil is sizzling, add the beef and stir fry for 3 - 4 minutes or until cooking through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the beef and set it aside on a plate.
    • If necessary add more oil then add in the red bell peppers and onions then stir fry for 2 minutes. Add in the ginger and garlic then continue to stir fry for 1 minute. Add in the tenderstem, stir fry for 20 seconds then add the beef along with the noodles and stir fry for 30 seconds. Add and mix in the sauce then remove from the heat and serve immediately.
